  FitnessSyncer and Grok

Grok can read your health and fitness data through the FitnessSyncer MCP Server, so you can ask about your own history in plain language instead of building a report for it. Ask what your resting heart rate has done since January, whether you sleep better on the days you train, or which source stopped syncing last week, and Grok answers from your data rather than from generalities.

It can record an entry for you as well, so a weigh-in or a note can be dictated in the same conversation. FitnessSyncer is added as a custom connector, which is the same mechanism Grok uses for every other remote MCP server.

Before you start

  • A FitnessSyncer account with your sources connected. The MCP Server is included with every account, so there is nothing extra to buy; see Getting Started if you are new. A free account reaches back over less history here, exactly as it does everywhere else on the site.
  • A Grok account. On a Grok Business or Enterprise team, an administrator adds connectors for the team in the xAI console, so ask them to add FitnessSyncer with the address below.

Add FitnessSyncer to Grok

  1. Open Connectors in Grok’s settings, or go to grok.com/connectors.
  2. Select New Connector and then Custom.
  3. Enter FitnessSyncer for the Name, if Grok asks for one.
  4. Enter https://www.fitnesssyncer.com/services/mcp for the server URL.
  5. When Grok sends you to FitnessSyncer, sign in and approve the permissions. FitnessSyncer says you will go back to grok.com; if it names any other site, do not continue. Uncheck anything you do not want Grok to do; for answering questions, the read permissions are enough.

There are no keys to create. Grok registers itself with FitnessSyncer the first time it connects.

Try it

Start a new chat and paste any of these to check that everything is working:

  • List all the apps and devices FitnessSyncer is currently connected to for my account and show when they last synced.
  • How did I sleep this week compared to last week?
  • What has my resting heart rate done over the last month?
  • Give me a weekly health overview based on everything FitnessSyncer knows about me, and call out anything that looks outside my normal range.

There are many more ideas on the MCP Server page.

Grok explains your readings using public guidelines; this is not medical advice.

Grok says the connector could not be added. What should I check?

  • The URL must be exactly https://www.fitnesssyncer.com/services/mcp.
  • If Grok offers a choice of transport, choose Streamable HTTP. FitnessSyncer does not offer the older SSE transport.
  • If FitnessSyncer says the application is not allowed to register, please Contact Us so that we can look into it.

Does this cost extra?

Not from us. The FitnessSyncer MCP Server is available to any account, and a free account simply reaches back over less history, as described on the FitnessSyncer Pro page. Whether your Grok plan offers custom connectors is a question for xAI.

How do I disconnect Grok?

Remove the connector in Grok, then remove Grok’s access in your profile.
