FitnessSyncer and Claude

Claude can read your health and fitness data through the FitnessSyncer MCP Server, so you can ask about your own history in plain language instead of building a report for it. Ask what your resting heart rate has done since January, whether you sleep better on the days you train, or which source stopped syncing last week, and Claude answers from your data rather than from generalities.
It can record an entry for you as well, so a weigh-in or a note can be dictated in the same conversation. FitnessSyncer adds Claude as a custom connector, which is the same mechanism Claude uses for every other remote MCP server.
Before you start
- A FitnessSyncer account with your sources connected. The MCP Server is included with every account, so there is nothing extra to buy; see Getting Started if you are new. A free account reaches back over less history here, exactly as it does everywhere else on the site.
- A Claude account on a plan that offers custom connectors. If Customize does not offer Connectors at all, your plan or your workspace administrator does not allow them.
Step 1: Create your keys on FitnessSyncer
- Go to the Developer Accounts page.
- At the bottom of the page, select Claude from the list and click “Create”.
- Note the Client Id and Client Secret. The Client Secret is only displayed this once; if you lose it, you can regenerate it, but you will then need to enter it in Claude again.
Step 2: Add FitnessSyncer to Claude
- Select Customize and then Connectors.
- Select “+ Add” and then “Add custom connector”.
- Enter FitnessSyncer for the Name
- Enter https://www.fitnesssyncer.com/services/mcp for the Remote MCP server URL and select Continue
- For the authentication type, select “Sign in now”.
- For the OAuth client, select “Use your own OAuth client”. Claude recommends “Use Claude’s published identity” and also offers “Register automatically”, and neither of those works with FitnessSyncer.
- Copy-and-paste the Client ID and Client Secret that you created in Step 1.
- Click Add.
- Click Connect near the FitnessSyncer icon, and approve the permissions FitnessSyncer asks for. Uncheck anything you do not want Claude to do; for answering questions, the read permissions are enough.
Try it
Start a new chat and paste any of these to check that everything is working:
- List all the apps and devices FitnessSyncer is currently connected to for my account and show when they last synced.
- How did I sleep this week compared to last week?
- What has my resting heart rate done over the last month?
- Give me a weekly health overview based on everything FitnessSyncer knows about me, and call out anything that looks outside my normal range.
There are many more ideas on the MCP Server page.
Claude explains your readings using public guidelines; this is not medical advice.
Claude wants to use its own published identity, or to register automatically. Can I let it?
No. FitnessSyncer does not support Dynamic Client Registration, and it does not recognize Claude’s published identity, so both of those options fail to connect. Always choose “Use your own OAuth client” and enter the Client ID and Client Secret you created in Step 1.
Claude may also tell you that OpenID Connect or a client metadata document is unavailable because FitnessSyncer did not advertise it. That is expected, and it does not stop the connection from working. FitnessSyncer deliberately keeps your account profile out of the integration.
Does this cost extra?
Not from us. The FitnessSyncer MCP Server is available to any account, and a free account simply reaches back over less history, as described on the FitnessSyncer Pro page. Whether your Claude plan offers custom connectors is a question for Anthropic.
How do I disconnect Claude?
Remove the connector in Claude, then revoke its permissions in your profile or delete the Claude keys in Developer Configuration. Removing the keys stops any connection made with them, so you will need to create new keys to connect again.
