  FitnessSyncer and Gemini

Gemini can read your health and fitness data through the FitnessSyncer MCP Server, so you can ask about your own history in plain language instead of building a report for it. Ask what your resting heart rate has done since January, whether you sleep better on the days you train, or which source stopped syncing last week, and Gemini answers from your data rather than from generalities.

It can record an entry for you as well, so a weigh-in or a note can be dictated in the same conversation. FitnessSyncer is added as a custom app, which is how Gemini connects to any remote MCP server.

Before you start

  • A FitnessSyncer account with your sources connected. The MCP Server is included with every account, so there is nothing extra to buy; see Getting Started if you are new. A free account reaches back over less history here, exactly as it does everywhere else on the site.
  • A personal Google Account on a Google AI plan that offers custom apps. Google currently offers them in the United States, in English, to people 18 or over, and only with Keep Activity turned on. Work and school accounts cannot add them.

Add FitnessSyncer to Gemini

  1. In the Gemini app, open Settings & help and then Connected Apps.
  2. Under Custom apps, select Add a custom app.
  3. Enter FitnessSyncer for the name.
  4. Enter https://www.fitnesssyncer.com/services/mcp for the server URL.
  5. Leave the client ID and secret under the advanced settings empty, and add the app.
  6. When Gemini sends you to FitnessSyncer, sign in and approve the permissions. FitnessSyncer says you will go back to a googleusercontent.com address, which is how Google returns every connection to Gemini; if it names any other site, do not continue. Uncheck anything you do not want Gemini to do; for answering questions, the read permissions are enough.

There are no keys to create. Gemini registers itself with FitnessSyncer the first time it connects.

Try it

Start a new chat and paste any of these to check that everything is working:

  • List all the apps and devices FitnessSyncer is currently connected to for my account and show when they last synced.
  • How did I sleep this week compared to last week?
  • What has my resting heart rate done over the last month?
  • Give me a weekly health overview based on everything FitnessSyncer knows about me, and call out anything that looks outside my normal range.

There are many more ideas on the MCP Server page.

Gemini explains your readings using public guidelines; this is not medical advice.

Gemini does not offer custom apps. Why not?

Custom apps are a Google feature with Google’s own requirements: a personal account, a plan that includes them, the United States, English, and Keep Activity turned on. If any of these does not apply, Gemini will not show the option, and there is nothing FitnessSyncer can change about that.

Gemini says it cannot complete the request after I approve. What should I check?

  • The URL must be exactly https://www.fitnesssyncer.com/services/mcp.
  • Remove the app in Gemini and add it again, leaving the client ID and secret empty.
  • If it still fails, please Contact Us so that we can look into it.

Does this cost extra?

Not from us. The FitnessSyncer MCP Server is available to any account, and a free account simply reaches back over less history, as described on the FitnessSyncer Pro page. Whether your Google plan offers custom apps is a question for Google.

How do I disconnect Gemini?

Remove the app in Gemini’s Connected Apps, then remove Gemini’s access in your profile.
