How do I get started with Hevy and FitnessSyncer?
The easiest way to get started is to follow our Getting Started Guide, which will walk you through how to exchange data between Hevy and many other services!
Are you looking to get more out of our Hevy integration? Check out our How It Works, which will walk you through how to unlock the full power of FitnessSyncer.
How do I connect my Hevy account?
Hevy does not use the usual sign-in window. Instead you give FitnessSyncer a key that you generate yourself:
- Go to hevy.com and sign in.
- Open Settings, then Developer.
- Click Generate API Key and copy the key it shows you.
- Back in FitnessSyncer, add a Hevy source and paste the key into the Serial Number, API Key, or Identifier box.
The key is all Hevy needs, so there is nothing to renew and no sign-in that expires. If you ever regenerate it in Hevy, paste the new one into your FitnessSyncer source.
Note: Hevy currently offers its API to Hevy Pro subscribers only. That is Hevy’s requirement, not ours: FitnessSyncer does not require any subscription of its own to sync with Hevy.
Why does one Hevy workout turn into several activities?
Because a Hevy workout is a collection of separate exercises, and each one is its own piece of training. FitnessSyncer records one activity per exercise, named for the exercise and carrying that exercise’s own total repetitions, heaviest weight and RPE, so you can chart your bench press on its own instead of it disappearing into a session total.
Each of those activities is titled with your workout, its position in that workout and the exercise itself, for example “Morning Workout: 1: Bench Press (Barbell)”. That way they sort back into the order you did them and you can still see which session they came from. If the workout has no title of its own, the title simply starts with the position, such as “1: Bench Press (Barbell)”.
Why do my Hevy activities show no calories or heart rate?
Hevy does not record either one.
Can FitnessSyncer send workouts to Hevy?
No. Hevy builds a workout out of its own exercise library, and an activity arriving from a watch or a bike computer has no sets or exercises to fill that in with. Your body measurements do go both ways; workouts come from Hevy only.
Will my Hevy routines and exercise templates sync?
No. A routine is a workout you intend to do, and FitnessSyncer only ever records training you have already done, so there is nowhere for a routine or a custom exercise template to go. They stay in Hevy and are untouched by anything FitnessSyncer does.
How do my Hevy body measurements sync?
Your weight, body fat percentage, lean mass and the measurements you take with a tape (neck, chest, waist, hips, arms, thighs and calves) come across as a Weight item. Hevy keeps a left and a right for each limb and FitnessSyncer keeps one, so when you have recorded both sides we bring across the average of them.
This one works in both directions, so a reading from your scale can be sent to Hevy as well. Hevy files body measurements by day rather than by time, so only one reading per day is kept, and writing a weight to a day you already measured in Hevy leaves the rest of that day’s measurements as they were.
What do I put for Hevy notifications in their configuration?
We do not support Hevy notifications at this time. FitnessSyncer checks Hevy when your destinations run or when you tap Sync.
My Hevy source only shows recent workouts; can I get the rest?
You can do a Historic Sync and get all of your data with a Pro Account by editing your Hevy source and selecting from the toolbar.
