How do I get started with Nolio and FitnessSyncer?

The easiest way to get started is to follow our Getting Started Guide, which will walk you through how to exchange data between Nolio and many other services!

Are you looking to get more out of our Nolio integration? Check out our How It Works, which will walk you through how to unlock the full power of FitnessSyncer.

Why does my Nolio connection fail, or stop working?

Nolio only allows other services to reach your data while you have an active paid Nolio plan. Without one they refuse our requests outright, so your sessions stop arriving even though the connection itself looks fine.

If your sessions have stopped, check your plan at nolio.io/pricing first. This is Nolio’s requirement rather than ours — a FitnessSyncer subscription does not change it, and there is nothing we can do from our side.

My Nolio source only shows 90 days of data; can I get more?

You can do a Historic Sync and get all of your data with a Pro Account by editing your Nolio source and selecting from the toolbar.

Nolio returns a limited number of sessions per request and offers no way to page through a range, so we read your history in windows. A long history therefore takes a while — that is how their API works, not a limit we chose.

Can FitnessSyncer send my planned workouts to Nolio, or read the ones my coach set?

No. Nolio does a great deal with planned sessions, training plans and structured workouts, but FitnessSyncer only ever works with sessions that actually happened, so there is nothing on our side to send or receive.

Your completed sessions sync in both directions, and anything your coach plans stays in Nolio.

Which of my sessions come across?

Your own completed sessions. If you are a coach, the sessions belonging to your athletes stay in their own Nolio accounts — we only ever read the account that authorized the connection.

A session recorded on a device arrives with its full track, so you keep the map along with heart rate, power, cadence and elevation as they were recorded second by second.

A session I entered by hand in Nolio is missing its map and power.

A session typed into Nolio — a gym session, a swim you logged afterwards — has no recording behind it, so there is no track to bring across and never will be. We still import it, with everything it does have: its name, duration, distance, calories and description.

What cannot come across is anything we would normally read from the track: the map, and the cadence, power and elevation figures that are calculated from it. We would rather leave those blank than invent them, because a made-up track would put fictional points on every chart that plots your route.

What happens when I send sessions to Nolio?

A session with a recording is sent to Nolio as its original file, so it arrives with the full track and everything Nolio can calculate from it.

A session without a recording is still sent — Nolio accepts one built from its totals, so it arrives with its name, sport, date, duration and distance. It simply has no map, for the same reason it had none here.

Sending the same session twice is safe. Nolio recognizes one it already holds and keeps the copy it has rather than creating a duplicate.

My newest session has not appeared yet.

Nolio tells us as soon as a session is created or changed, and we then read it back — usually within moments.

If a session is missing long after it appeared in Nolio, edit your Nolio source and sync it again — that re-reads the period rather than waiting for another notification.

Why does my weight or resting heart rate not sync?

Nolio tracks these as metrics, separately from your sessions, but we do not read or write them yet. Only completed sessions sync today.
